Troposphere opens with a stately 3/4 meter flourish punctuated with percussion and trills. The woodwinds superimpose there own statement before the opening dies away to a contrasting melodic section in 4/4 meter. A short transition by percussion returns the band to the opening declaration. A unison crescendo to fortissimo brings the work to an end. Written for maturing bands the composer has indicated some notes enharmonically to better fit.
