Written in the tradition of medieval folk music, Mystery Island employs a haunting melody that introduces students to the Dorian mode. All sections of the band have an opportunity to play the theme, and the percussion parts contain nuances such as snares off, as well as triangle and tambourine parts that add flavor to the overall ambiance of the music. A great piece for a mid year concert, Mystery Island would also be perfect for a festival.
