Flex - The Dreidel Game
Jeffery T. Parthun, Sr.
How many times have you had some friends over to play and your younger brother or sister kept getting the way, bothering everyone and basically being a pain-in-the-neck? That situation inspired this arrangement. The piece moves along playfully until the obnoxious sibling makes an appearance with the trombone (low instrument) glissando.
This arrangement offers a wonderful opportunity for band directors looking for quality music with untraditional instrumentations. The flexible scoring options in this
arrangement allow each conductor to find the best musical results possible for any
combination of instruments. The wind instruments in this arrangement are divided into 5 parts. Each part is written for several possible instrument combinations with each part carefully edited for range. The least recommended instrument choice for each of the 5 parts is notated in the score by the instrument name in parenthesis. Please notice that parts are included for baritone TC and bass guitar. The Part 3 tenor sax has been given its own part but is written with trumpet and clarinet in the score.
