"First March" is a solid sheet music selection for beginning band students.  Ranges are limited to six notes and rhythms include only whole, half and quarter notes.  Every section is featured at some point and doubling parts is common.  This is a good piece to teach independent counting as the bass parts have separate rhythms throughout.

This was a fun and easy piece to read for my Beginning Band. The range is perfectly suited to the first four or five notes on Brass and woodwinds and the rhythms are clear and easy. I love it as a rewarding and easy first piece.
