Beginning Band

If you are looking for a good Beginning Band song, or perhaps sight reading for one of your intermediate groups, Doo Dah is a good choice. This classic Stephen Foster selection has simple rhythms and moderate ranges (trumpet 1 has an optional B and C in the staff). Independent counting practice, soli percussion featuring the keyboards, a low brass and woodwind melody part all make the arrangement a compelling choice for beginning band.
