Cloud Dancer is an easy junior high jazz work in a medium Latin style with fresh full sounding harmonies. It's a great teaching tool for introducing improvisation. Students don't have to worry about form because it's an open format. They also don't have to worry about wrong notes. The pentatonic scales five notes insure confidence. Better players can experiment with Dorian mode or the major scale, but all players can easily hear the minor and major tonal centers. A sample improvisation sheet is provided for each instrument. And best of all it is playable with three saxes, two trumpets, two trombones, rhythm (notated) and easy to put together. The other parts included are optional.
