"68 Main Street" is a great piece for use when teaching 6/8 meter. The notes of piece are simple and students will have mastered the pitches well before beginning to learn 6/8 meter. The focus can be totally on learning the rhythms. "6/8 Main Street" can be played slowly in 6 beats per bar but the tempo should gradually increase to the standard march tempo of 2 beats per measure. |
